Halloween Party Games
Hey there, spook-tacular moms and dads! Halloween is creeping around the corner, and what better way to celebrate the season than with a fang-tastic classroom party for your little goblins and witches? I’ve conjured up some spine-tingling game ideas to make your child's elementary school Halloween party a hauntingly good time!
Too many Halloween puns? Yeah… you’re right… I’ll tone it down. It’s overkill for sure. . :) (Okay that was the last one. Promise!)
Puns aside, it really is that time of year where teachers are looking for parent volunteers to help out with the annual Halloween classroom party. Orrr maybe you’re planning a fun neighborhood or family party. Whichever situation applies… you’re probably looking for some simple, but fun and festive ways to entertain multiple kids at a time. Sound familiar? Well I’ve got you covered! Each of these ideas are simple, fun, AND affordable.
Eyeball Cauldron Pong:
It’s like cup-pong, but using dollar store eyeballs and plastic cauldrons. There’s a couple of ways you can do this one: you can gather varying sizes of cauldrons, or multiple cauldrons that are all the same size. Once arranged the way you’d like it, make a line on the floor where you’d like the children to stand. You want it back at least a few feet. The further back, the harder the challenge! Then have the children try to throw the ping pong ball into the cauldron. If you have different sizes, assign different points to each one. The child with the most points wins!
Supplies Needed: Eyeball Ping Pong Balls, Large Cauldron, Medium Cauldron, Mini Cauldrons
Monster Mash Memory Game:
Create pairs of spooky Halloween-themed cards and play a memory game with a monster mash twist. As kids uncover matching pairs, they get to keep the cards. The player with the most pairs at the end wins a prize.
Supplies Needed: Halloween Memory Game
Pumpkin Shell Game:
Get ready for a pumpkin-themed twist on the classic shell game! Place a small Halloween-themed item like a spooky spider or a eye ping pong ball under one of three pumpkin shells. Mix them up, and have the kids guess which pumpkin hides the prize. It's a game of memory and mystery that's perfect for a Halloween party.
Supplies Needed: Plastic Pumpkins, Eyeball Ping Pongs
Candy Dice Roll:
Roll the dice and let the sugary magic unfold! Set up a game where each child takes a turn rolling a giant Halloween-themed dice. The twist? The number rolled corresponds to the number of candy pieces they get to pick from a spooky candy assortment. (This ones great for the younger grades because it gives them counting practice, while keeping their attention thanks to the candy.)
Supplies Needed: Halloween Candy, Dice, Goody bags to hold their candy
Witch's Broomstick Limbo:
Hang a broomstick horizontally and have the kids take turns trying to limbo underneath it without touching it. Lower the broomstick after each round to make it more challenging.
Supplies Needed: Witches Broom (A household broom works too :))
Skeleton Hand Keepie-Uppie:
Thanks to Bluey, this game is a fan favorite! Provide each child with a plastic skeleton hand, and they'll have to keep a Halloween-themed ball or balloon in the air using only the skeleton hand. The goal is to see who can keep it up the longest without it touching the ground. (If you’re playing this in a classroom, be sure there’s plenty of space for kids to move around without tripping or falling over classroom items).
Supplies Needed: Plastic Skeleton Hand, Balloons
Dice Roll & Skeleton Ring Count:
Each child takes turns rolling a dice, and the number they roll determines how many Halloween-themed rings they get to pick from a bewitching collection. They then take a turn counting out that many rings to either put on their skeleton or place on their own hand. The player with the most rings at the end of the game, wins! (Another good one for younger grades who are still practicing their counting.)
Supplies Needed: Halloween Rings, Dice, Plastic Skeleton Hands
Cauldron Tower Competition:
Provide each child with mini cauldrons and challenge them to stack them into the tallest tower possible before it topples over.
To add a twist, you can make it more challenging by giving each child a limited amount of time to stack as many cauldrons as they can. (Think minute-to-win-it like games). The child who creates the tallest, most spellbinding tower before it collapses, wins!
Supplies Needed: Mini Cauldrons
Haunted Musical Chairs:
Turn Musical Chairs into a spook-tacular game for your Halloween party. Decorate the chairs with spooky elements like spider webs and bats. Play eerie music, and when it stops, kids must find a chair. Remove one chair each round until one child is the champion. Give a fun prize to the winner for extra excitement!
Supplies Needed: Chairs, Halloween Decor, Speaker for Music
Eyeball Relay with Skeleton Hands:
Divide the children into teams and provide each team with a plastic skeleton hand. Here’s how it works: One child from each team starts with the ping pong eyeball in the skeleton hand. When the race begins, they must carefully pass the eyeball from one skeleton hand to the next in a relay fashion. The catch? They can only use the skeleton hands to transfer the eyeball, making it a tricky challenge. And if they drop the ball, it has to start over at the beginning again.
The team that successfully passes the ping pong eyeball down the line and back again, without dropping it, wins the race!
Supplies Needed: Plastic Skeleton Hands, Eyeball Ping Pong Balls
All of the supplies I used for these games can be purchased from a local dollar store or Amazon! And all of them are budget friendly!
With these spine-tingling Halloween games, your child's classroom party is sure to be a scream. So grab your cauldron, brew up some fun, and have a wickedly good time with your little goblins and witches.
Happy haunting, everyone! 🎃👻🕷️
Cheers,
Meg
